The technology behind the liquid crystal display television, also known as LCD TV, has been around for many years. Initially, this type of technology was used only for computer monitors, but it has gradually found its way in the commercial television set. The range of LCD televisions greatly differs in terms of
1. Price depending on size,
2. Manufacturing and model.
These TVs are slim in shape and are much lighter than a plasma TV. Their shape is testament to the fact that any LCD TV belonging to any latest range of LCD TV’s can be easily placed on a stand or hung on a wall with the least amount of effort.
The technology in LCD TVs differs from other television technologies. An LCD TV provides a much higher quality of picture because of an abundance of pixels. Most LCD TVs provide high resolution, but many other factors make up as effective reasons for the differences in price. First and the most obvious factor is the size of the television screen. It only makes sense that larger the screen size, larger is the cost of the set.
Screen size is always measured diagonally and can be less than a foot or over sixty inches in length. Usually, the smallest LCD TV has a price less than $200 while the largest LCD TV is at least over $1,000. Some of these televisions may even be several thousand dollars, but the size is not the only factor involved in cost.
Originally, all LCD television sets had a refresh rate of 60 Hz. As the technology of these machines has grown, LCD TVs are now made with 120 Hz and 240 Hz refresh rates. The latest range of LCD TVs have cut down the blurring of the picture during quick movements on the television. Most of the large screen LCD televisions (capable of being fetched for a low cost) run at a 60Hz refresh rate.
The Brand name also accounts for larger costs. Sony, LG and Samsung are usually at the higher end while brands like Vizio, Philips, Toshiba, BenQ and Panasonic are at the lower end. LCD of different brands look different in colour intensity and visual clarity even if they share the same attributes for resolution and refresh rate. Some latest items by these reliable brands are :

I currently have an SD tv and an looking to upgrade. My primary usage will be with the Sony Ps3, for gaming purposes. I’m looking at TVs from 19-26 inches, and have been considering the Sony Bravia line, 26″. Does anyone know of any better tvs within this smaller size range? Any suggestions or comments on the Bravia line??? Any help would be appreciated as this is most likely the only TV purchase I will be making for the next few years…

Which MP3 player to get?
Hi well I’m at last making the move over to music on MP3 rather than CD..so I’ve been looking at a few of the players out there, mainly Ipod and Creative products. The more I read about IPods the more I think I don’t want one, cos of reliability/battery probs etc
Basically I want it to use at home mainly, either with a docking station and decent speakers or through my existing HiFi. I’m interested in one with 4GB.
Could anyone recommend a good player with 4GB that works well at home, i.e. compatibility with good speakers and/or FM tuner??
By the way I’ve looked at the Creative Zen 4GB with video but I know there are other makes out there like Sony….?
