How do i edit avchd videos without losing quality?

ok so i got the Sony handycame HDR-CX100 and the quality for playback is excellent. But when i put it on my computer my dissatisfaction rose, because of the ridiculous AVCHD codec. What softwares can handle this, because i spoke to sony and they said that the included PMB software can convert it to WMV, but that would restore it to standard def. To me, that sounds like a complicated way of saying “There was no reason to get an HD camera seeing as how you have to lower the quality to use it”. Im not sure if Sony Vegas 8\.0 can edit AVCHD videos, but i may also want to upload the hd videos to youtube without losing quality. If this would satify all of my needs i would not mind buying it. So if sony vegas can output the videos in a readable format that i can put on youtube without lowering the quality, or you know any other good software, help me out. I just think its unfair how sony always makes things so difficult, while the flip mino can drag and drop HD. Thanks!

How is the Sony HT-SS360 Home Theatre System.?

I have been researching this HTS for a while now and have got mixed reviews. Will someone who has it please tell me if its worth it or not. If you dont know, can you recommend another 5.1 HTS with HDMI IMPUTS and no build in dvd/blue-ray player. I have a PS3 and want to hook a good system up to it.
